The Renault group is more than ever in search of innovation but also profitability. And it is banking on its Alpine sports label to generate strong profit margins and conquer new territories.

The new product plan for the group’s sports brand was unveiled in two stages. The first stage was announced on January 14, 2021, at the launch of its Renaulution, which included three new 100% electric models. These include a city car named Alpine 5, derived from the future Renault 5, the replacement for the current A110 sedan and an SUV.

The second step took place on November 8. The group announced a division of its activities, with a purely electric entity called Ampère and a second, focused on thermal models, called Horse.

America and China, Alpine’s favorites

The mission of the Alpine SUV will be to ensure the brand’s expansion, via the conquest of new territories such as China and North America. Areas where the sporty coat of arms is still little known, if not completely unknown.

As for the technical aspect, Renault intends to use the basis of the Lotus Electric model, a powerful car with between 600 and 900 horsepower. The starting price will be close to 100,000 euros.

Alpine is counting on this imposing vehicle, reaching five meters in length, to be an important source of profit on these new markets.
