Creative director Alessandro Michele is reportedly leaving Italian fashion house Gucci, the largest brand of French luxury group Kering, Women’s Wear Daily (WWD) reported late Tuesday.
“Could a major change be afoot at Gucci? Well-placed sources say creative director Alessandro Michele is leaving the brand,” WWD said in a report published in Milan.
A statement is expected as early as this Wednesday, the news site added.
Kering and Gucci declined to comment on the WWD report.
Gucci has been successfully revamped with a bold new look since the 49-year-old Italian designer took over as creative director at Gucci in January 2015.
“After seven years at the helm of Gucci’s creative engine, it may be time for a change, and a consensus among institutional investors seems to be forming that a new approach is needed to revive the brand,” RBC analysts said in a note.
