Although buying second-hand jewelry is not as common as buying second-hand items in other areas, it is becoming increasingly popular among younger generations. This is primarily for reasons of affordability and, to a lesser extent, originality and environmental protection.
The success of second-hand watches and bags, whose resale prices sometimes exceed those of new originals, is now well known and documented.
On the other hand, there is less talk of the phenomenon of “preloved” (second-hand) jewelry… And yet, the French, and in particular the younger generations, are increasingly open to the idea of buying or giving jewelry that already has a history.
A new study by Interenchères x Yougouv
This is the focus of a new study that has just been conducted and published on the subject by Interenchères with Yougouv. A sample of 1,001 people, representative of the French population aged 18 and over, was surveyed by what is described as the number one auction site in France and the international market research institute Yougouv.
