Lagging far behind other fashion and luxury houses, the brand founded in 1953 by the designer, who was nevertheless a visionary in terms of silhouettes, has only just launched its first e-commerce site. Since his appointment as CEO and creative director, the late Pierre Cardin’s grandnephew, Rodrigo Basilicati-Cardin, has been rolling out initiatives to modernize the House while highlighting its heritage.

 

For its 75th anniversary, Pierre Cardin is making a big splash.

 

In a press release dated December 17, the House announced that it was taking “a new step in its development by unveiling its online store and the Pierre Cardin Heritage collection.”

 

Its new platform offers “a showcase for its creations, past and present, extending the visionary and futuristic legacy of its founder.”

 

New phygital concept

 

Pierre Cardin may have been a visionary in his day, but until now, his fashion house had refused to venture into e-commerce. Its creator believed that his designs had to be seen up close, touched, and tried on before being adopted… A principle that should, however, be respected with the new phygital concept announced by Pierre Cardin.
