Cognac and the Chinese market weigh on Rémy Cointreau’s second quarter

Rémy Cointreau has unveiled results below expectations for its second quarter of the 2025-2026 financial year, weighed down in particular by a collapse in its cognac sales in China.

 

Rémy Cointreau’s revenue fell 15.1% year-on-year to €268.8 million. As a result, the owner of the Rémy Martin brand has lowered its annual outlook.

China in free fall, the United States to the rescue

 

For the July-September period, the French spirits group suffered an organic decline in sales of around 11% compared with the previous year, exceeding the anticipated decline of around 9%.

 

This decline is attributable to the cognac division, the group’s core business (approximately 70% of revenue), which fell by nearly 18% in published data (and 13.5% organically) over the same quarter, with revenue of €168.9 million, largely due to a sharp drop in demand in China.
