Will Francesca Bellettini, the new CEO of Gucci, repeat the Yves Saint Laurent miracle?

The rumor had been circulating for several days. Previously deputy CEO of Kering, in charge of brand development, the Italian will take over the reins of the luxury group’s flagship brand, which is currently in disarray. Under the leadership of her compatriot Luca de Meo, will she succeed in getting Gucci back on track, as she did at Yves Saint Laurent as CEO?

The appointment of the former as CEO of the Italian fashion house, which has been on a downward spiral since 2022, was confirmed on September 17 by the Kering group, its parent company. The news had been the subject of rumors in the Italian press for several days.

 

Under the leadership of Luca de Meo

 

Prior to this, Francesca Bellettini had also been tipped by some as the potential CEO of the Kering group, a new position that was ultimately given to her compatriot Luca de Meo, former CEO of Renault. De Meo took up his new role on September 15, after his appointment was approved on September 9 at the latest general meeting of the luxury group, which is still chaired by François-Henri Pinault.
