According to the first study conducted by the Alliance France Cuir Economic Observatory on French consumers’ purchasing behavior with regard to leather goods, French consumers are very attached to quality and physical stores, particularly those located in city centers.
The success of French luxury leather goods exports is well known.
But the French are also fond of high-quality bags, wallets, and other luggage, and expect distribution channels to match, even when they cannot afford the most expensive models.
This is what we learned from a study recently released by the Observatoire Économique de l’Alliance France Cuir, which analyzes, for the first time, the purchasing behavior of French consumers with regard to leather goods (handbags, small leather goods, luggage, and business accessories). To this end, the professional organization surveyed a representative sample of 2,000 French adults last March.
Quality: the top priority
The first finding is that quality is a top purchasing criterion for French consumers.
