Swatch Group: Patrick Aoun is the new CEO of Longines

After five years at the helm of Longines, Matthias Breschan is stepping down to make way for Patrick Aoun, previously regional director of the watchmaker for the Middle East. He will have to tackle slowing sales for the Swiss brand, which has been hit hard by a sluggish Chinese market.

The Saint-Imier-based watchmaker, owned by the Swiss Swatch Group, announced in a press release dated May 23 that “after five successful years at the helm of the company,” Matthias Breschan was stepping down from his position for personal reasons.

 

He was replaced at the beginning of June by Patrick Aoun, the brand’s former regional director for the Middle East.

 

Key role at Longines

 

“During his tenure,” Longines said, “Matthias Breschan played a key role in building and strengthening the brand, and the company expresses its sincere gratitude for his valuable contribution.”
