Watchmaking: the GPHG Academy creates a college for young people

New members are joining the GPHG Academy this year, bringing the total number to 827 worldwide. This year’s class of 2023 includes 35 young people aged 25 and under.

Created in 2001, the Fondation Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG) opens its doors to young people. Recognized as a public utility since 2011, it pursues a mission of international promotion of the art of watchmaking. It organizes an annual award ceremony in Geneva in November.

The Academy of the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève has just created a college specially dedicated to young people under 26 years of age, “bearers of talent and fresh perspectives”, it says in a statement.

After this age, the winners will join their peers in one of the Academy’s colleges, depending on their specificities.

The Academy is made up of seven colleges: watchmakers; designers and craftsmen; watch-related industries; experts; distributors and retailers; journalists and influencers; brands; and guests.
