The American specialist in luxury jewelry and watches Jacob & Co has designed a new watch model in honor of the car racing saga, Fast And Furious.
To celebrate the return of the Fast and Furious film series, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, the watchmaker Jacob & Co is presenting a watch with the look of a big car. Indeed, this watch is a tribute to the first film of the saga and uses the codes of the latter.
The American jewelry and wristwatch retailer Jacob & Co, founded in 1986 by diamond designer Jacob Arabo, has decided not only to pay tribute to the last opus of the saga with the “Fast & Furious Twin Turbo” watch, but also to the other films since we notice two cars that fans will have recognized: the Dodge Challenger and the Toyota Supra.
This watch, decorated with a dial in the effigy of a sports car dashboard, a strap similar to a tire and Twin–Turbo engine parts, will delight fans of extreme speed.
But that’s not all this watch has to offer, the watchmaker reminds us of the possibilities offered by this model: “Inspired by the old pit panels in car racing, you use the crank to move the colored rotating disc and the central digital display to set the reference time. Then, when you normally use the single-pusher chronograph, you can easily see the difference between the current time and the reference time you set“.
To justify this collaboration Jacob & Co draws a parallel between their brand and the franchise: “Fast & Furious uses innovation and new technologies to disrupt the action movie genre. (…) We are doing the same thing with Swiss watchmaking“.
It is important to note that this is not the first time that the Fast and Furious saga works with a watchmaker. Indeed, in 2012, we could already see on the wrist of the late Paul Walker a Jaeger-LeCoultre Master compressor Diving Automatic Navy Seals.
Available in only 9 pieces, with prices that will rise according to the offer (starting price: $280,000), this watch, available June 24th, will be reserved for enthusiasts who do not want to miss the opportunity to acquire a collector‘s model.
The movie Fast and Furious 9 will be released in theaters on July 14 with Justin Lin at the helm, he is the director of Fast and Furious Tokyo Drift and parts 4, 5, 6 of the saga.
