The apostle of vegan fashion has announced the purchase of the 49% stake that the World’s Number One Luxury brand took in her Maison, when it was created in 2019. Stella McCartney will continue to advise LVMH as Global Ambassador for Sustainable Development.

 

Stella McCartney now wants to shine on her own.

 

After being supported by two French luxury giants, Kering and then Lvmh, the celebrated designer and champion of vegan fashion is regaining her independence.

 

In a joint press release published on Monday January 27, Stella McCartney announced the purchase from LVMH of the 49% minority stake it had held in her brand for the past five years.

 

Help from Kering and then LVMH

 

Prior to this, in 2018, Stella McCartney had taken over half her shares from the other French luxury group, Kering, which had already helped her co-found her brand in 2001.

 

But whileshe announced at the time that “the time had come” for her to take “full control of the company bearing her name”, a year later she joined the LVMH fold.
