For this second edition in 2024, marking its thirtieth anniversary, Maison & Objet welcomes nearly 2,300 exhibitors. With “Terra Cosmos” as its theme, this year’s Home, Design and Lifestyle Show takes visitors to the infinite and beyond!
There’s no better way to get your brain back in gear for the new season than at Maison & Objet Paris…
Last January, to mark its thirtieth anniversary, the leading international event for interior design professionals had already chosen a theme -Tech Eden- highlighting new trends in the hybridization of nature and technology.
Terra Cosmos
The theme of the second edition of its thirtieth anniversary, which takes place from September 5 to 9, 2024 at the Parc des Expositions de Paris-Villepinte, is particularly well-suited to taking off from the cow floor. Or “Terra Cosmos”, detected by the fine antennae of trend agency Peclers Paris.
Terra Cosmos, which translates as the inspiration of space exploration in our interiors, is thus reflected in the different areas of the show, through the “deciphering of new desires and expectations of consumers in search of total experiences”. “It’s a cosmic vision of the future, but one that’s firmly rooted in the reality of a showthat’s “resolutely focused on novelty, creativity and innovation”.
Because space exploration, a concept no longer reserved for a few cosmonauts but now open to sensation-seeking billionaires, is increasingly appealing to the general public.
Almost 2300 exhibitors
But let’s return to more down-to-earth considerations. The autumn 2024edition of Maison et Objet, an event organized by Safi -which also heads up Paris Design Week and MOM (Maison & Objet’s digital platform)– will welcome 2,289 exhibitors, including 600 new ones.
These are divided into 15 sectors: “Smart Gifts , Fashion Accessories, Cook & Share, Pattern Lab, Home Accessories , Home Fragrances , Home Linen, Smart Gifts and Fashion Accessories, Forever (proposals from manufacturers and editors for interiors with character), Kids & Family (furniture, games and decor for children), Projects (interior design solutions), Signature (master furniture and decor), Today (the best in contemporary design), Unique & Eclectic (cultural treasures and decorative nuggets for a singular interior), Well-Being & Beauty (wellness products).
As a reminder, during its January 2024 edition, Maison & Objet attracted 2,516 brands from 62 countries, 70,668 unique visitors from 147 countries, including 40,916 from France. The top countries among the 29,752 international visitors were Italy, Belgium, the UK, the Netherlands, Spain, Germany, the USA and China.
Cook&Share made permanent
The Cook&Share sector is annualized from this September’s edition, with a new positioning in Hall 4, bringing it closer to the Home Accessories sector and its offer of decorative elements linked to the world of the table.
Cook&Share welcomes brands “ranging from cooking to tableware, cutlery, culinary accessories and a whole gourmet universe”. On the menu: Opinel, Jean Dubost, Laguiole en Aubrac, Cristel, Beka, Woll, De Buyer, Koziol, Comptoir de Mathilde, Bordallo Pinheiro etc…
Within the show, three areas – WHAT’S NEW? IN RETAIL, WHAT’S NEW? IN HOSPITALITY and WHAT’S NEW? IN DECOR – are designed to help visitors “understand the keys to the market ata glance”, by “condensing new products and highlights from exhibitors’ collections”. These are all valuable “compasses” to “guide interior designers, buyers and other creators”.
WHAT’S NEW? IN RETAIL
Located in Halls 3 and 4, WHAT’S NEW? IN RETAIL brings together best practicesinshopping experiences from all over the world, with “solutions that can be transposed” to your store (whether in terms of point-of-sale information, displays, signage, hierarchical selections, attractive window displays, etc.).
Among these solutions: “Hozho ‘s olfactory journeys (candles and home fragrances),Alex Hackett ’s floral creations in paper and ceramics, Huages‘ CBD drink tastings,Olfactif’s astrological candles and scented rituals with rejuvenating virtues”.
François Delclaux, founder of the agency “Un nouvel air”, also stages a curation of future bestsellers, inspired by Terra Cosmos, “to project his point of sale towards new frontiers”.
Another plus: coaching sessions offered by retail experts. Here are just a few examples: “How to welcome a customer who has begun his or her journey online?” by Régine Vanheems, co-founder of Handel Conseil, “Federating a strong community through in-store rituals” by Christophe Pradère, founder and managing director of BETC Design, “Thinking up an agile, modular customer journey” by Marc Cordier, executive creative director of SGK Brandimage…
WHAT’S NEW? IN HOSPITALITY
Located in Hall 6, WHAT’S NEW? IN HOSPITALITY space aims to “create unique places of conviviality for a unique customer experience”, thanks to the “ACCOR DESIGN AWARDS x SOFITEL – 2024 Luxury Edition” collaboration, which brought together promising talents from all over the world.
To celebrate Sofitel’s 60th anniversary, the 2024 Luxury Edition of the Accor Design Awards invited “international interior design students to rethink the lobby of a luxury hotel, blending art and sustainable development with the French zest of Sofitel”.
100 projects were submitted by 20 schools in 8 countries, resulting in 10 finalists. Announced on September 5, the 3 winners, the People’s Choice Award and the Jury President’s Award will be announced at the show.
Another highlight of the space: TERRA COSMOS by/by Lionel Jadot, a place “part lounge, part terrace, part café-restaurant, where comfort rhymes with a complete change of scenery” has been imagined by the Designer of the year – Hospitality, a specialist in up-cycling, with the help of artist-designers with a wide range of skills. These are “unique pieces that push back the limits of creativity”.
WHAT’S NEW? IN DECOR
Finally, in Hall 7, the WHAT’S NEW? IN DECOR has been designed by Elizabeth Leriche, an expert in trends, scenography and art direction.
She invites visitors to “plunge into the colors and materials that will shape the interiors of tomorrow” and discover “the decorating solutions that make all the difference”.
An “immersive, magical and poetic” trail, between the tangible and intangible, will also reveal spectacular new creations via 5 “spatiotemporal” capsules.
INSPIRING TALKS
The show will also provide food for thought for trade visitors, encouraging them to broaden their horizons with some fifty conferences and workshops.
In Hall 7, in the conference area, 27 Talks will be held , led by experts in decoration, design and the art of living. These will cover topics from hospitality to retail, and will range “from cutting-edge solutions for interior architecture to exceptional designers, via analysis of the latest trends.”
Among the inspiring speakers at this year’s event are Cordelia de Castellane, Artistic Director of Dior Maison (Tableware and Home & Gift collections), Harry Nuriev, artist, designer and founder of Crosby Studios, Jean-Sébastien Blanc, co-founder of Studio 5-5, Marie-Ange Brayer, curator, head of the Design and Industrial Prospective department at the Musée national d’art moderne, Centre Pompidou, matali crasset, who describes herself as a “Designeureuse”, Paul Cocksedge, designer and co-founder of Paul Cocksedge Studio, Sarah Poniatowski, founder of Maison Sarah Lavoine and Tom Dixon, founder and eponymous creative director of the British fashion house. ..
