[Luxus+ Magazine] Furniture Fair: Philippe Starck invents a furniture family for Dior

The famous fashion house has entrusted the no less famous designer with the task of imagining its very first furniture collection. Inspired by the famous medallion chair dear to Christian Dior, it has just been presented at the Milan Furniture Fair.

 

 

From Louis XVI to Philippe Starck via Christian Dior…

 

The presentation at Palazzo Citterio in Milan, on the occasion of the Furniture Fair, of the first complete collection of Dior furniture, signed by Philippe Starck, will be a milestone.

This alliance between two names of genius designers in the service of beauty had already been initiated last year …

 

At the Furniture Fair 2022, the first collaboration of Dior Maison with Philippe Starck had already been presented.

Medallion Chair

 

The famous designer revisited the Medaillon chair, a symbol of the Louis XVI style dear to Christian Dior, in his refined style. “Miss Dior,” his new version of the designer’s iconic piece of furniture, is a creation “with timeless elegance” in 100% aluminum, available with or without armrests and in different shades (black, pink copper, or gold), satin or polished.

A very contemporary vision of the chair with an oval medallion-shaped back was originally designed by the French carpenter Louis Delanois in 1769. Christian Dior himself adopted this symbol of French elegance, upholstered in an airy cane and toile de Jouy, to seat guests in his Paris boutique.

And it is from this base that Philippe Starck has invented a whole family of furniture for “Miss Dior.
