It was due to welcome its first customers in the first half of 2024. Yet its doors are still closed. Louis Vuitton’s Beijing department stores’, which was supposed to help boost the brand’s sales under the aegis of LVMH, has postponed its opening date. The delay is the result of difficulties in the Chinese consumer market.
It was supposed to be one of Louis Vuitton’s most important openings. The CEO of its parent company LVMH, Bernard Arnault, visited a five-storey space in a shopping centre in a strategic district of Beijing last year, and the flagship was due to open in the first half of 2024. However, according to sources close to the matter, as reported by the media outlet Fashion Network, the shop may not open until 2025. The postponement of this project is closely linked to the Chinese market, which is experiencing a slowdown in growth after reaching historic post-covid peaks.
