Developed by Italian eyewear specialist Marcolin, the first prescription glasses bearing the iconic shoemaker’s hallmarks have been launched, previewed online and at Saks Fifth Avenue in New York. A promising diversification for Louboutin. And enough to create a buzz around Marcolin, which its owner PAI Partners has put up for sale.
From now on, you can wear glasses designed by the famous Christian Louboutin label.
The announcement of the agreement between the famous French shoemaker, whose sumptuous pairs are recognizable by their scarlet soles, and the Italian company Marcolin, one of the world leaders in eyewear, was made a year ago. In early 2024, Marcolin, already a partner of brands such as Pucci and Zegna, announced an exclusive worldwide licensing agreement for the design, manufacture and distribution of sunglasses and eyeglasses under the Louboutin label, running until 2029.
The first pairs under this new license are currently appearing in previews on the online boutique of the shoemaker and in Saks Fifth Avenue department stores.
Selective distribution
For the launch in the Big Apple, Marcolin pulled out all the stops with the organization of a New York gala on April 10th at the restaurant-concert The Nines, completely decked out in red from floor to ceiling, and in the presence of celebrities such as Diane Kruger, Chloé Flower and Jackie Shuya Tan.
