The Swiss Lalique Group has signed a licensing agreement with the Japanese jeweler Mikimoto. This collaboration aims to create, market, and distribute perfumes and crystal products.
Lalique announced on Tuesday the signing of an exclusive partnership with the Japanese jeweler Mikimoto, renowned for its cultured pearls. This strategic alliance, sealed by a licensing agreement, aims to expand the Swiss luxury group’s range by integrating the creation and distribution of perfumes, as well as Mikimoto-branded crystal products.
The financial details of this collaboration, planned until 2035, remain confidential.
Lalique Group has already announced the launch of the first licensed Mikimoto crystal edition in 2025. The initial line of perfumes resulting from this collaboration will be rolled out internationally in the spring of 2026, as per the information released this Tuesday.
Mikimoto perfumes will be distributed and marketed through the Swiss group’s network, capitalizing on the brand’s popularity, particularly in Asia. This strategic expansion will also target other regions such as the Americas, Europe, and the Middle East.
Mikimoto, a 130-year heritage:
Mikimoto boasts a 130-year legacy in jewelry and pearl craftsmanship. Founded in 1893 by Kokichi Mikimoto, the house is a pioneer in the world’s first cultured pearl.
Mikimoto later expanded its business to jewelry by sending artisans to Europe to acquire the latest jewelry-making techniques, especially in the artistic movements of Art Nouveau and Art Deco. These techniques were then reinterpreted with traditional Japanese craftsmanship.
The brand, present in major luxury capitals including Tokyo, New York, Paris, London, Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Taipei, Singapore, and Bangkok, stands as a global reference.
