According to Challenges magazine, the CEO of the luxury goods group intends to split his role and retain only the chairmanship. While an external recruit is not out of the question, one of Kering’s two deputy CEOs, Francesca Bellettini or Jean-Marc Duplaix, could succeed him as CEO.
In the navy, the captain does not abandon a ship in distress.
But François-Henri Pinault, CEO of the Kering group, believes that a different approach is probably more desirable in fashion and luxury, where a change of direction can sometimes prove beneficial.
Change in senior management
According to the business magazine Challenges, François-Henri Pinault is working with his board of directors “to separate the roles of chairman and CEO of his group.” While he would remain chairman, the recruitment firm Jouve has reportedly been tasked with finding a new CEO. But if an external candidate is considered, one of Kering’s two deputy CEOs, Francesca Bellettini and Jean-Marc Duplaix, could also be chosen to take over.
