After ten years with the OTB subsidiary, the British designer has announced his departure. While he warmly thanked Renzo Rosso, the head of the Italian group, he kept the suspense about his next position. Glenn Martens, currently at Diesel, could replace him at Maison Margiela.
After hell, purgatory and heaven?
It’s not easy to sum up John Galliano’s career, or to anticipate his next destination.
But one thing is certain. The designer is leaving Maison Margiela, a subsidiary of the OTB group. He has not renewed his contract, which expired at the end of October.
“After ten years of inspiring, moving and fruitful collaboration, Maison Margiela and John Galliano are parting ways,” announced the 64-year-old designer and OTB boss Renzo Rosso in a statement. In so doing, they confirmed a recurring rumor, while opening the way to new speculation about John Galliano’s future destination and his replacement at Maison Margiela.
Redemption
“Rumors… Everyone wants to know and everyone wants to dream. When the time is right, all will be revealed,” John Galliano slipped in a message of gratitude and thanks to his ex-employers on Instagram, a testament to his ‘redemption’ and his last fourteen years of ‘sobriety’.
