INSEAD, internationally renowned business school, will open the third edition of its Global Luxury Forum on the 16th of november.

The forum aims to highlight the new strategic challenges of the luxury retail market. This year, innovation and sustainable developpment in the context of digitalisation will be at the heart of the conference.

Among the differents issues discussed during the round tables: women position in the luxury sector. An occasion to present the new Special Project named “Women in Luxury”.

Floriane de Saint Pierre, CEO of her own recruitment agency, Claire Isnard, hiring chief at Chanel and Rania Masri, transformation chief officer at Chalhoub Group are expexted to discuss about that issue. But also, Megha Malagatti, operational marketing director at ST Dupont. Even if we can notice that they are a lot of women working in the fashion and luxury industry, the hierarchical balance is not reached.

“Only 38% of the members of the management committee at LVMH are women, even if the group is the leader in luxury segment.”

Indeed, only 38% of the members of the management committee at LVMH are women, even if the group is the leader in luxury segment.

In the current context, we can see that the luxury leader took initiatives like the EllesVMH price, created in 2017, which is rewarding women’s initiaves among the employees of the different Houses of the group.

On its side, the Femina Index reveals that the companies which exceed the average of women in management position, has a higher operational profitability than others. For example, Hermès, for which 59% of the managing team are women, increased its stock market price by 338% between 2006 and 2016. Some figures that can make us think again about the importance of women in high-level positions.

This 2018 Global Luxury Forum promises to be a sustainable development-oriented edition. Highlighted among others, this issue will be put in perspective regarding the future of luxury retail and shops.

Among the numerous prestigious guests expected this year, Jean Claude Biver, LVMH watchmaking division director, Christian Blanckaert, former executive VP at Hermès but also Stefano Fenili from Bain & Company will be attending.
