Hong Kong International Airport has launched a luxury online concierge service to make pre-flight purchases. The platform offers a high-end delivery service as well as an attractive loyalty program.

The luxury duty-free area at Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) is renowned for attracting travelers from around the world. In keeping with this spirit, the airport has launched an online shopping platform, which allows travelers to pre-order a wide selection of global luxury brands.

With the creation of this new service, HKIA said it has become an “unparalleled shopping destination for high-end luxury lovers.”

16 world-renowned luxury brands are associated with the service. These include Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Bottega Veneta, Bulgari, Chaumet, Gucci, IWC, Jaeger-LeCoultre, Jimmy Choo, Loro Piana, Panerai, Piaget, Tiffany & Co, Tory Burch, Tumi and Versace.

The international airport said other prestigious brands will soon join the luxury concierge service.

Record time delivery

To help travelers shop and book their orders, the concierge team connects customers with brand representatives via WhatsApp, WeChat and video call.

Customers can then choose to pick up their purchases at the stores or have them delivered directly to their gate, within a maximum of 90 minutes. Orders can also be delivered to customers’ homes. The service offers free local and global delivery to 15 destinations above a certain amount.

Loyalty

New members of the HKairport Rewards program will also receive a HK$100 (US$12.8) coupon as a welcome gift, and will be eligible for a discount of up to 12% on all purchases. This promotion is valid until May 7.

In the same spirit of digital development, French multinational Lagardère Travel Retail has just launched the first standalone convenience store in Hong Kong’s airport. The 88-square-meter Travelwell unit uses artificial intelligence (AI) and computer vision technology to streamline the shopping process and provide a grab-and-go retail experience.
