High Jewelry: how Chanel is strengthening its American positions

Chanel has made a management change for its Watch and Fine Jewelry department in the United States. Transferring from Danish jeweler Pandora, Olivier Kessler-Gay is taking charge of this strategic market, which is undergoing major restructuring for the Maison de la rue Cambon. In fact, since February 2024, Chanel has had its first physical outlet dedicated to Haute Joaillerie.

 

In the midst of consolidating its American market, Chanel has hired Olivier Kessler-Gay, head of Pandora in Western Europe (France, Spain and Portugal), to manage the American branch of its Watches and Fine Jewelry division. The Maison de la rue Cambon intends to capitalize on the dynamism of the luxury goods sector in the United States in 2024, according to the latest Bain-Altagamma report.

 

Reporting directly to Stéphane Blanchard, President of Chanel Inc, the new CEO will take up his post on March 3.

 

The announcement comes at a time when the French fashion house, headed by American Leena Nair and headquartered in London, has just streamlined its workforce in the US market.

 

Strategic and operational expertise

 

Oliver Kessler-Gay’s mission will be to bring a long-term vision to capitalize on the opportunities offered by the American market, while strengthening Chanel’s positioning in the Haute Joaillerie segment.

 

With over 25 years’ experience in the fast-moving world of luxury goods and retail, the new Director of Watches and Fine Jewelry for North America is expected to bring his strategic and operational expertise to the Chanel teams .

 

Since June 2020, Oliver Kessler-Gay has been Director of Pandora in Western Europe (France, Spain, Portugal). Under his nearly 5-year tenure, he succeeded in doubling the company’s size, making the area under his responsibility one of the Danish jeweler’s best-performing European markets.
