Hermès continues to expand its footprint in France with the announcement of a new leather goods factory in Colombelles, Calvados. This is a first for the luxury house in Normandy, where it intends to create 260 artisan jobs by 2028.
The new site is part of a long-term strategy combining excellence in craftsmanship, regional development and environmental commitment.
In the footsteps of an industrial past
Buoyed by the success of its leather goods collections – which accounted for over 40% of sales in 2024, up 18% – Hermès is pursuing its policy of controlled growth by increasing its production capacity. The future Colombelles factory will become the House’s 27th leather goods workshop, and the fourth to be launched as part of its expansion plan after L’Isle-d’Espagnac in Charente, Loupes in Gironde and Charleville-Mézières in the Ardennes.
