Four Seasons will open its second hotel in the Chinese city of Hangzhou in 2024. This partnership with Greentown China Holdings Limited speaks volumes about the growth prospects of the Chinese market, as well as those of this city of 10.36 million inhabitants, hitherto “secondary” for the luxury sector.
Hangzhou, the capital of China’s Zhejiang province and cradle of the Alibaba e-commerce empire, will welcome a new Four Seasons hotel next year.
Following the inauguration of the first hotel on the banks of the city’s emblematic lake, the second to be built, fourteen years later, will be in the city center of this top tourist destination.
Like Chengdu, Hangzhou is currently enjoying a resurgence of interest from major players in the luxury goods industry, to the extent that the boundaries between cities of different rank are becoming increasingly blurred.
A new project for Hangzhou
For its second address in the cultural city of Hangzhou, Four Seasons has taken up residence in the Hangzhou Centre Towers, located in the city center.
This 150,000-square-meter mixed-use complex comprises two 130-meter towers and 8,500 square meters of outdoor green space.
Inside, the 214-room and suite hotel will feature a large number of restaurants, lounges and other event spaces. The gastronomic offering will include a renowned Chinese restaurant with five private dining rooms offering panoramic views of the city, as well as an all-day dining restaurant offering a cosmopolitan-inspired menu. Guests can also enjoy a drink in the glamorous rooftop bar with gardens, or a cuppa in the tea pavilion.
With 2,855 square meters (20,730 square feet) of dedicated space, the hotel intends to capitalize on event activity whether indoors – with a 1,290-square-meter (13,885-square-foot) pillarless ballroom – or outdoors.
