As expected, the US President has confirmed the imminent introduction of tariffs on products imported by his former trading partners, including 20% tariffs on the European Union. Wines, spirits and champagne are currently exempt from the threat of 200% tariffs… The sector nevertheless remains concerned.

As he had announced, the American President confirmed, on Wednesday April 2, the introduction of so-called “reciprocal” customs duties for many products imported into the United States. And he formalized this at a ceremony at the White House by signing a presidential decree.
Sixty countries in Donald Trump’s sights
The idea is that products entering the United States will now be taxed as much as American products exported to their countries of origin. Some sixty are on a list of “major offenders”, which has not been disclosed.
