The art fair that began in Basel, Switzerland, is launching a fifth edition of its event in Qatar, following Hong Kong, Miami, and Paris. The first edition is scheduled for February 2026, in a rather modest format but one that is sure to take off thanks to the support of the emirate, which is heavily involved in the development of cultural soft power in the region.

Art Basel, the world’s largest art fair, already established in Basel (its historic home) as well as Hong Kong, Miami and Paris (launched in 2022), continues to expand globally with the announcement of its first location in Qatar, in the capital city of Doha…
The first edition of Art Basel will take place in Doha in February 2026, thanks to a partnership between Art Basel, its parent company MCH Group, and the Qatari organizations Qatar Sports Investments (QSI) and QC+.
Modest beginnings before a crescendo of growth
It will take place at the M7 Creative Center and the Doha Design District in downtown Msheireb, the capital’s rapidly developing neighborhood, close to world-renowned landmarks including the National Museum of Qatar. The aim is to bring together leading gallery owners and artists from the Middle East, North Africa, South Asia and beyond, collectors and “cultural leaders from the Middle East.”
