[Luxus Magazine] Cannes Festival 2024: a compilation of the best outfits

The Cannes Film Festival is first and foremost a meeting place for film lovers. But before they reach the cinemas, celebrities must first undergo the ordeal of the red carpet. Every year, under the watchful eye of the photographers and their cameras, celebrities, actors, models and even influencers compete to stand out from the crowd. This 77th edition, which came to a close on Saturday 25 May, also presented its share of striking looks. Luxus Magazine has selected for you the best outfits seen on the way up the steps!

As with every media event, the stars and their stylists redouble their imagination to find the outfit that will make the biggest impression. While some wear made-to-measure creations, others don’t hesitate to rummage through the archives of the major fashion houses to try and get their hands on the dream piece. At the Cannes Film Festival, there’s no shortage of opportunities, with celebrities walking up the steps, taking part in photocalls and leaving hotels under the flashbulbs of the paparazzi, in ever more cutting-edge looks.

Juliette Binoche

In her thirty-year career, Juliette Binoche has become no stranger to the red carpet, particularly at Cannes. This year, the French actress caused a sensation at the opening ceremony. Designated to present the honorary Palme d’Or to the legendary Meryl Streep, Juliette Binoche appeared in a sublime red silk gown, sublimated by a bateau neckline.

Created by Maria Grazia Chiuri in the workshops of Dior, a house to which the actress has been close for several years, this haute couture creation was directly inspired by Christian Dior‘s Frac dress, presented in the autumn-winter 1949-1950 collection. It took almost 30 metres of fabric and 550 hours of work to create such a piece.

Yseult

Some silhouettes have gone down in fashion history as revolutionary. Such is the case of the New Look, imagined by Christian Dior. In 1947, in the aftermath of the Second World War, the designer presented a collection in total opposition to the Spartan fashion of the time. Feminine attributes were now highlighted by an hourglass line.

The iconic aspect of this silhouette was not lost on singer Yseult, who wore it on the catwalk of Francis Ford Coppola‘s latest film, Megalopolis. Dressed in black and white, she opted for a waist-accentuating Bar suit jacket and a pleated silk skirt. To complete the look, the singer chose a large hat and leather gloves to complete the elegance of her outfit.

Hunter Schafer

The photocall is also a time for striking outfits. And Hunter Schafer won’t deny it. Acting in the latest film Kinds of Kindness by Yórgos Lánthimos, the young woman caught everyone’s eye with her Prada look. Inspired by the autumn-winter 2010 collection, the monochrome silhouette featured a body with ruffles and an apron skirt tied at the side. To finish off this outfit, which was at odds with the many evening dresses seen throughout the Festival, the American wore a white headdress and blue satin pumps.
