The famous French luxury car manufacturer made a most surprising announcement yesterday. In association with designer Larry Sands, Bugatti has developed a collection of glasses, with prices ranging from $1,295 to $15,000.

After Ferrari, it’s Bugatti’s turn to enter the sunglasses race. Called One, its collection includes nine models of glasses, whose price is (really) not given. Indeed, they range from $1,295 to $15,000. For comparison, the maximum price for a pair of Bugatti glasses will be the price of a small city car fully equipped. The choice is between style and utility.

To justify its prices, the Alsatian company claims that rare materials such as palladium, sterling silver, gold, carbon fiber and Macassar ebony are used to design these luxury accessories, which will be manufactured in Japan.

Worth the price?

The company says that some of the glasses in the collection are designed using never-before-used techniques, such as “positive vapor deposition“. That is, a solid material is vaporized in a vacuum and deposited on the surface of a product. This makes the finish much more resistant to wear and is reminiscent of a process already used on some recent Bugatti models.

An amazing collaboration

The different designs of these pairs were created by Larry Sands, a pioneer in the world of eyewear. During his career, he has designed pieces and collections for some of the world’s leading fashion houses: “When I got the call from Bugatti, I was a little surprised, but to be approached by the world’s most powerful and luxurious car manufacturer to design their eyewear was an honor,” he said. “Everything I do is unexpected, and Bugatti Eyewear is one of my most unexpected works to date.”

It took two years of work and exchanges between the designer and the car brand to create these glasses. The one collection was presented last week in Milan at MIDO, one of the most important trade shows in the optical sector. It will soon be available in exclusive boutiques and on the Bugatti eshop, reserved for these exceptional sunglasses.
