The Sinot Yacht Architect & Design unveils its brand new luxury boat project called “Aqua” based on new technologies and for the first time powered by hydrogen and water, estimated at a price of $644 million.
This new concept of luxury hydrogen-powered yacht is a first on the market.
This project, still at the design stage, proposes a boat dedicated to pleasure boating that runs solely on hydrogen fuel and its essential element of use: water.
This unreal-looking, ultra-luxurious boat is called “Aqua“. The architects of Sinot Yacht Architecte & Design took up the challenge to design a brand new luxury yacht based on its clean technology in order to respond to the current issues that are becoming increasingly important for the planet.
During the Monaco Yacht Show, which took place in September 2019, Bill Gates would have been spotted during this event and would have been suspected of being at the origin of this futuristic idea. This information was later denied by Sander Sinot, founder of Sinot Yacht Architect & Design, who explained that this was “factually inaccurate information“.
This very promising project uses electric motors that operate through a chemical reaction created between liquid hydrogen under pressure at 250 degrees Celsius, a fuel composed of H20, and oxygen from the air, which then causes a source of electricity through this interaction. A new element that will replace petroleum. Objective? To meet growing consumer demand for an energy transition, which will also apply to aircraft and ships of the same size.
According to its characteristics, the yacht “Aqua” would be 110 meters long and its two liquid hydrogen tanks would weigh nearly 28 tons between them.
It should be noted that on the aft deck there is an infinity pool allowing the landscape to be enjoyed, as well as the pilot and control room.
Its design, unique in the world, promises a unique experience, especially with its “master bedroom” that offers its owner a plunging view all the way to the bow of the boat.
Its magnificent spiral staircase allows the owner to see the boat’s huge hydrogen tanks through a reinforced glass pane from its height. This luxury superyacht has a double hull interspersed with glass for added reinforcement to make it as safe as possible against any impact, to the delight of its passengers.
A cascading pool is available on the boat as well as a gym offering a completely unobstructed view of the ocean.
“Environmental concerns can no longer be ignored. Yacht propulsion and the choice of fuel are therefore becoming a major issue. This is why we have come up with a new concept with Lateral Naval Architects: to use a hydrogen-electric system capable of supplying energy for everything that is needed on board. Before designing a new vessel, we ask ourselves several questions, including: “Why build a new yacht?”. This one really makes sense.” Sander Sinot told Paris Match.
According to him, “Water is the eternal fuel of life.” which is why the use of water was a must for this project as the boat’s main source of energy, especially considering that this element covers 71% of the Earth.
“Aqua” thus plunges its passengers directly into the future with its new superyacht concept. With a range of 6,945 km reaching 17 knots and a maximum capacity of 45 people on board, this is unexpected for this type of boat. Its price? 644 million dollars.
