The number of international travelers to the United States is expected to be impacted by Donald Trump’s policies. Canadians are the first to have started sulking, even boycotting, their neighbor.
Donald Trump is definitely not liked by everyone.
By dint of practicing the policy of “America First”, even “America Only”, the American President is becoming a repoussoir for some international tourists. They feel that America Welcome, even temporarily, has disappeared from the country for the time being and should be avoided.
A number of signs fuel their fears.
A proposal circulating in the American administration is to prohibit the inhabitants of 43 countries (including Afghanistan, Laos, Cambodia, many African countries and even… Russia!) from setting foot on US soil if these territories of origin do not provide more information about their fellow citizens.
In February, the American authorities stepped up the cancellation of tourist visas for Mexicans who regularly cross the border for tourism, shopping or work.
Be careful with your travel documents
The shockwave is being felt everywhere: the British and German authorities have even advised their nationals traveling to Uncle Sam’s country to be very careful with their travel documents, in order to avoid the risk of possible arrest!
