Alliance France Cuir, the French professional organization for the leather industry, will be making its debut at the Circuit des Remparts d’Angoulême on September 19, 20, and 21. Every year since 1939, the event has attracted car enthusiasts to watch hundreds of vintage vehicles compete on a closed circuit or take part in elegance and condition contests.
The French city of Angoulême is inextricably linked to the comic book festival, which takes place every winter from late January to early February.
But there is another unmissable event, albeit less well known, held in this Charente town: the Circuit des Remparts.
Alliance France Cuir has chosen to support this three-day event dedicated to vintage cars on the track and on the podium for the first time this year.
Leather is inextricably linked to automotive history, from seat upholstery and bench seats to driver’s gear (jackets, gloves, and even helmets in the 1920s).
Leather, a historic traveling companion
This could not fail to pique the interest of Alliance France Cuir, the professional confederation of the French leather industry.
A key partner of the Salon du Made In France, the organization, buoyed by the public success of its flagship workshop producing cowhide figurines at the Paris event, is breaking new ground this year.
The organization has chosen tosponsor the Circuit des Remparts d’Angoulême. In addition to the car race, the event offers activities centered around the restoration of classic cars and a grand elegance competition.
