Following a debut couture collection inspired by a child’s imagination, Matthieu Blazy once again appeals to our imagination with his new theme: fairy tales.
A world, not just a collection
Upon entering the Grand Palais, visitors discover not just a runway, but an immersive setting. The botanical garden and the magical atmosphere serve more than just as a backdrop: they set the stage for the narrative. Giant flowers, vines, trees, and fantastical creatures prepare the viewer’s eye to enter the fashion show as if stepping into a fairy tale.
Drawing on the imagination of folk tales, the collection is filled with references to magical worlds. Magic beans, birds, and lush vegetation evoke Jack and the Beanstalk, though the collection is by no means limited to that story. It is the perfect blend of the past and the imagination, featuring reimagined classics such as tweed suits and sculpted long coats.
This grandiose presentation also serves as a reminder that Haute Couture possesses a quality that ready-to-wear cannot: the ability to create a world and transport the viewer into a different realm. Matthieu Blazy is unequivocal: “Couture allows us to tell stories that clothes alone cannot always express.”
