The Union des Maisons de Champagne has just published its ranking of champagne companies based on their turnover. Moët Hennessy Champagne Services (MHCS), a subsidiary of the LVMH group, continues to lead the way. It is followed by Vranken-Pommery Monopole and Laurent Perrier.
In its 2024 ranking of champagne houses, the Union des Maisons de Champagne highlights a high concentration of large groups (MHCS, Vranken-Pommery Monopole, Laurent Perrier, Lanson-BCC, Pernod Ricard with Perrier-Jouët and Arvitis Canard-Duchêne), which account for three-quarters of the Champagne region’s total turnover, while independent or family-owned houses, which make up the majority of the Champagne wine ecosystem, have to settle for more modest turnover.
The large Houses and groups operate a diversified portfolio of brands that they need to promote.
The hundred or so Houses in the Champagne region account for more than two-thirds of total Champagne sales and more than 85% of total exports (to 200 countries).
Prestigious Top 5
With $1.83 billion in sales, Moët Hennessy Champagne Services (MHCS), a subsidiary of luxury goods giant LVMH, tops the rankings. This entity comprises the world-renowned brands Moët & Chandon, Dom Pérignon, Mercier, Janisson & Fils, Ruinart, and Veuve Clicquot.
