St Barth: the definition of luxury par excellence

Saint-Barthélemy: here is a name synonymous with dreamlike stay. This French-speaking Caribbean island is full of luxury hotels and villas facing the sea and surrounded by palm trees. This island paradise promises a journey of a lifetime that will leave unforgettable memories for its guests.

With tourism reaching historic attendance records in 2023, up +3.9% compared to the pre-covid-19 period and +4.4% compared to the pre Hurricane Irma according to IEDOM, St Barth continues to be a dream destination for world travelers. Winter, the dry season, is the best time to go. A mercury that often flirts the 30°, paradisiacal beaches with warm turquoise water, lush vegetation… The nature of the island blends perfectly with the luxury settings that blend into this wonderful landscape with many activities. Discovery of this nirvana in the heart of the Caribbean.

Stay in St Barth: villas with stunning views

While the activities are easy to plan because they are so many – even if doing nothing on the beach but enjoying the sun is already a great occupation – booking a luxury villa in St. Barth requires a quality agency that will meet all requests and needs.

Ultra luxurious and perfectly equipped, private residences allow a pleasant flexibility, such as the possibility of extending evenings in complete privacy or swimming alone in its pool, while benefiting from hotel services, like baby-sitters, reputable chefs or drivers. Combining modernity and local charm, the Barthéloméennes villas feature infinity pools, sports areas, indoor and outdoor kitchens, large furnished terraces, comfortable rooms with en suite bathrooms… All decorated by great designers like Philippe Starck, refined furniture, precious fabrics between silk and linen, and materials worthy of palaces such as marble and priceless woodwork.

It also depends on the number of people to be accommodated. From private homes for a couple or a small family to large properties of 5, 8 and even 10 rooms, it is advisable to contact professionals who know the island like their pocket. Groups also have the opportunity to settle in two neighbouring areas, where each will find its space while enjoying the pleasures of holidays with their loved ones.

Location side, three large types of villas are often presented: feet in the water with the white sandy beach accessible from the terrace, on the heights to enjoy a clear panorama over the cliffs and the water as far as the eye can see, or more inland, nestled in lush nature. Toiny, Gustavie, Lorient, Flamands, Colombier… The districts of St Barth are numerous and each enjoy a particular wealth, with shops, entertainment, sports activities or restaurants. Or just a Caribbean lull to cut with the effervescence of everyday life. In short: all desires can be satisfied thanks to the qualified agencies.

Luxury hotels

There is no shortage of upscale hotels in Saint-Barthélémy. The island already has a palace, the hotel Cheval Blanc Saint-Barth. This LVMH-run venue includes 61 keys, a wonderful spa and the La Case restaurant run by Jean Imbert.

There are also a handful of five-star hotels on the island. Among them, the Eden Rock, Le Christopher St Barth, Le Gyp Sea Hotel, Le Barthélemy Hotel & Spa, the Barrière Le Carl Gustaf Saint-Barth, Le Sereno Hotel or the Manapany Hotel.

All offer restaurants with succulent dishes with local products and local fisheries, renowned spas, true sanctuaries of well-being, pleasant and friendly common areas and, of course, swimming pools with terraces to soak up the sun of this little piece of paradise. Not to mention the beach club. The teams on site respond to all requests, such as romantic wedding proposals at sunset. What to spend an unforgettable holiday on the other side of the world.

What to do in heaven?

If getting up from your deckchair and out of your villa or room is difficult – in short, the most complex moment of the trip -, the Little Antilles’ Eden is full of activities. We start by making a tour of the island of 25km2 to discover its different neighborhoods and villages, some of which testify to the history of this land. Many hikes are accessible for all levels. The opportunity to test various chic restaurants (especially those of hotels) and upscale bars, spread across St Barth.

Quickly, we go to Gustavia, the capital, to do some shopping and get into the island atmosphere. Witnesses of the aura of luxury that emanates from the French island, Louis Vuitton, Cartier, Prada or Hermès offer summer and colorful collections. Linen shirts and light dresses will be there! These stores are gathered alongside local designers to visit.

Since the turquoise water is one of the main attractions of this sunny eldorado, a day at sea is highly recommended. We reserve a catamaran or yacht to navigate the bay and take advantage of the breaks to practice snorkeling and discover the multicolored fish and turtles in their environment. There are many water activities to book on the island, such as paddle boarding, surfing, jet skiing and diving.

Once ashore, one does not forget to put his towel on the most beautiful beaches of St Barth, such as the famous beach of Colombier, that of Grand Cul de Sac or Shell Beach.

Depending on the period, do not hesitate to find out about the festivals and entertainment offered by the island, between gastronomy and music. Perfect to live at the pace of the locals and return with a calm head full of memories.
