[Luxus Magazine] 15 years later, Oasis are back (at last)

This is one of the most legendary rock bands of the end of the century. Founded in 1991, Oasis created an event every time in stadiums, in front of a crowd that rallied to the rhythm of their songs. But the discord between the Gallagher brothers eventually led to the band’s breakup in 2009, a heartbreak for fans and the music world. While many had lost hope, the long-awaited news of their return for a 2025 tour has caused a real tidal wave.

 

It had been 15 years since the fans were waiting for this. On Tuesday, August 27, the announcement made its way around the press and social media with undisguised enthusiasm: the British band Oasis is finally making a comeback.

 

News that some consider a miracle, given how the relationship between Liam Gallagher and his brother Noel seemed deadlocked. In recent years, exchanges between the two members of the group from Manchester were limited to insults through interviews or posts on social media.

 

The brothers have apparently managed to set aside their animosity (for how long?) and a world tour has been announced for the summer of 2025. Fourteen dates in England and Ireland were initially scheduled, followed by three additional concerts “due to unprecedented demand,” as the group explained on their X account.

 

Oasis is far from finished writing the history of Britpop and is preparing to start a new chapter full of promise.

 

Spokesmen for a Troubled Generation

 

From the very beginning, Oasis presented itself as the voice of a generation facing hardship. The Gallagher brothers, Noel the elder and Liam the younger, grew up in 1970s Manchester. Products of a post-Thatcher working class, they were raised in a deprived family under the thumb of an abusive father.

 

Children of Irish immigrants, they faced the tense atmosphere resulting from the attacks by the “Provisional” IRA (Irish Republican Army), a terrorist organization advocating for Northern Ireland’s full independence from the United Kingdom. Liam and Noel found themselves victims of segregation in the schoolyard due to their Irish heritage, which caused a real identity crisis for both brothers.

 

As the years went by, like many young people from the working class, and following in the footsteps of the legendary Beatles, music presented itself as a way out
