The 98th Academy Awards ceremony, long awaited, took place on March 15 and was marked by the dominance of One Battle After Another and a red carpet that was as glamorous as ever.

 

The 98th Academy Awards ceremony was held on March 15, 2026, at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles, hosted by Conan O’Brien. Dedicated to films released in 2025, the evening was marked by the clear dominance of One Battle After Another, which won Best Picture and Best Director for Paul Thomas Anderson. The film follows a former political activist drawn back into a new commitment in a contemporary context. It emerged as the main winner of the ceremony, confirming its status as a favorite throughout the awards season.

 

 

Michael B. Jordan and Jessie Buckley crowned Best Actor and Best Actress

 

Michael B. Jordan won the Oscar for Best Actor for Sinners, in which he plays a man confronted with his past and his choices. Jessie Buckley was named Best Actress for Hamnet, which tells the story of a mother grieving the loss of her child in Elizabethan England.

Sean Penn was also awarded for his supporting role in One Battle After Another, while Amy Madigan was honored for Weapons. Among the other major awards, the Norwegian film Sentimental Value won the Oscar for Best International Feature Film, KPop Demon Hunters won Best Animated Feature, and Avatar: Fire and Ash won Best Visual Effects. The very first Oscar for Best Casting (a category introduced in 2026) was awarded to Cassandra Kulukundis for the film One Battle After Another.
