From 13 to 24 May, the Cannes Film Festival will be rolling out its red carpet, trodden by the world’s biggest celebrities. Discover the feature films selected in Competition or Out of Competition and in the other sections, Un Certain Regard, Séances de Minuit, Cannes Première or Séances Spéciales.
The 78th edition of the Cannes Film Festival gets underway in a few weeks’ time, in mid-May, and will, as every year, present the hottest films in the 7th art. Dedicated to the memory of actress Emilie Duquesne, who died on 16 March this year, the selection includes films by Wes Anderson, Julia Ducournau, Chie Hayakawa and Sergei Loznitsa. Nearly 3,000 films – a record – from 156 different countries were screened to select the 60-odd entries, which include many first-time directors.
A host of celebrities from all over the world will be taking to the Festival stage. Joaquin Phoenix, Virginie Efira, Vincent Lacoste, Emma Stone, Juliette Binoche, Isabelle Huppert, Benedict Cumberbatch and Tom Cruise are all expected to attend. Robert de Niro will receive an honorary Palme d’Or at the opening ceremony, celebrating his entire career.

Among the films in Competition are 6 directed by women: Romeria by Carla Simon, Sound of Falling by Mascha Schilinski, The Mastermind by Kelly Reichardt, La Petite dernière by Hafzia Herzi , Renoir by Chie Hayakawa and Alpha by Julia Ducournau.
