[LIFESTYLE] The little stories of Luxury… Bonpoint, an elegant fashion that has retained its childlike spirit

Since 1975, Bonpoint has embodied French elegance in the world of children’s fashion. Founded in Paris by Marie-France and Bernard Cohen, the Maison has transformed a simple children’s clothing project into an internationally iconic brand, celebrated for its craftsmanship, timeless refinement, and ability to transcend generations.

Bonpoint was born in the heart of Paris in 1975. Inspired by their desire to dress their own children with elegance, Marie-France and Bernard Cohen opened their first boutique at 67 rue de l’Université, in the 7th arrondissement. The brand quickly stood out for its delicate aesthetic and artisanal approach to clothing for the very young.

From Parisian roots to global expansion

Very quickly, Bonpoint established its signature codes: the use of noble materials, impeccable cuts, and refined details that combine functionality with poetry. The logo, symbolized by two small cherries, became an instantly recognizable signature, evoking the emotional bond between the Maison and its clientele.

During the 1980s, the brand expanded its creative universe beyond clothing. In 1986, Annick Goutal—Marie-France Cohen’s sister and a renowned perfumer – created Eau de Bonpoint, a gentle fragrance designed for children. In 1988, Bonpoint crossed borders by opening its first boutique in New York on Madison Avenue, a strong symbol of its international outlook.

In the years that followed, the brand continued to expand both geographically and in terms of its product offering, while remaining faithful to its philosophy: combining couture tradition with innovation tailored to the world of childhood. In 2007, Bonpoint was acquired by the French group EPI, enabling it to strengthen its international presence with a network of around 130 boutiques in 30 countries.

Craftsmanship, diversification, and modernity

The history of Bonpoint is also one of continuous evolution. After opening new flagship boutiques – such as the one on rue de Tournon in Paris, conceived as a true experiential space for families – the brand gradually broadened its universe.

In the 2010s, Bonpoint entered the beauty and skincare world, launching a high-end range of hypoallergenic products tested under dermatological control. Its pop-up spa at Le Bristol Paris further illustrates this desire to offer a complete sensory experience centered on childhood and well-being.

On the creative front, the brand has welcomed various artistic directors over the years, integrating designers who enrich its heritage while bringing a contemporary vision. The arrival of Esther Loonen in 2021, for example, marked a fresh momentum in the modernization of the collections.

More recently, Bonpoint underwent another major change: in January 2025, it was acquired by the Chinese conglomerate Youngor. This marked the beginning of a new chapter of expansion, particularly in Asia, while the brand continues to assert its ambition to preserve its DNA and its French craftsmanship.

Fifty years of love and an anniversary capsule

In 2025, Bonpoint celebrated its 50th anniversaryhalf a century of elegance and transmission. To mark this milestone, the Maison created an exclusive capsule entitled “50 Years of Love,” featuring ready-to-wear pieces, accessories for all ages, and a collector’s edition of Parfum & Skincare. Adorned with golden cherries and a hand-calligraphed logo, this collection pays tribute to love, transmission, and the precious bond between parents and children.

This celebration was accompanied by special events, fashion shows, and exclusive collaborations, highlighting the importance of Bonpoint’s heritage in the fashion world – an heritage that continues to renew itself with tenderness, creativity, and elegance, faithful to the spirit that gave it life fifty years ago.
