[Luxus Magazine] Taylor Swift: her album “The Life of a Showgirl” breaks new records shortly after its release

Ten months after her triumphant world tour, The Era’s Tour, Taylor Swift unveils “The Life of a Showgirl,” her twelfth album. Released on October 3, it is already breaking sales records in the United States. While the name and aesthetic of this opus, inspired by the pop megastar’s unfulfilled passion for the Broadway stage, electrify her audience, the lyrics, free of any sense of sadness, divide critics… and her own fans.

Glitter and frills…

The least we can say is that when it comes to surprises and superlatives, Taytay—as her Swifties fans affectionately call her—rarely disappoints, and she has proven this once again with her new and twelfth album, The Life of a Showgirl.

A “leaked” launch on her partner’s brother’s podcast, personal confessions on TV shows, polished visuals, songs, music videos, and special edition vinyls, released bit by bit, partnerships with movie theaters around the world… The marketing genius, heavily influenced by the 35-year-old American’s personal storytelling, has struck again.

So much so that the megastar has managed to break record after record, whether in terms of the number of albums sold in a single day or the number of pre-registrations on the Spotify platform.

A new shower of records

Let’s remember that during The Era’s Tour, her monster tour (149 concerts on 5 continents, or 517 hours of shows), Taylor Swift had already earned the admiration of the world’s leading marketing specialists and entrepreneurs for the revenue she had generated.

She became the most commercially successful musician in the world, with the most lucrative music tour in history ($2 billion in revenue for The Era’s Tour), becoming the darling of the American economy ($199 million in economic impact on the cities hosting her tour).

The release of The Life of a Showgirl is in line with this same idea. According to data analysis company Luminate, the artist managed to sell 2.7 million physical or digital albums in one day in the US. Based on the first week, she is expected to easily beat British singer Adele, who sold 3.4 million copies of her album 25 in the week following its release in 2015.
