[Luxus Magazine] La Réserve de Beaulieu, the Côte d’Azur’s intimate palace: unreservedly recommended!

La Réserve de Beaulieu is a legendary seaside palace with an intimate atmosphere. It’s the ideal place to relax away from the hustle and bustle. The Michelin-starred Table des Rois, the imperial-size swimming pool and the spa all contribute to an enchanting stay.

Near Nice, nestled in the charming town of Beaulieu-sur-Mer, this world-class five-star flagship cultivates palace style with a naturalness that is the hallmark of the great Houses.

This iconic, magical address would not exist without the talented takeover by Jean-Claude and Nicole Delion, the current owners who also preside over the destiny of Château Saint Jean, one of Auvergne’s finest hotels.

With its 39 keys,La Réserve de Beaulieu offers the intimacy of a boutique hotel. Guests are sure to find a calm and discreet atmosphere, in contrast to the electric and crazy atmosphere of the hotels in Saint-Tropez. Monegasques come here to rest from the ballet of helicopters over the Principality.

In this Florentine-inspired villa with its pink façade, everything is beautiful, luxurious and perfect. There’s no room for bling.

Interior designer Richard Martinet (responsible for decorating the Crillon and Peninsula hotels in Paris, as well as the Hôtel de Paris in Monaco) carried out the renovation, combining classicism and modernity.

Black-and-white photos of celebrities (Ayrton Senna, Brigitte Bardot, Romy Schneider…) who have frequented the hotel adorn the walls from the lobby to the guest rooms. And the fresh orchids everywhere exude a sense of purity and freshness throughout the establishment.

You feel transported to another era, another century. At any moment, you imagine you’re going to bump into Gatsby the Magnificent at the Gordon Bennett bar or on the terrace with its white balustrades. The 180-degree view over the Mediterranean and the plunge into the immense mirror pool make you dizzy.

A little history … and a few anecdotes

Pierre Lottier, a restaurateur from Nice, built a luxury restaurant on the seafront. The year was 1880, and the Côte d’Azur was home to Europe’s elite. His aim was to serve the finest fish available. His idea? Dig a large basin where local fishermen could dump their freshly caught fish. They soon called it “the reserve”. Lottier adopted the name: “La Réserve de Beaulieu” was born.

The address quickly seduced the crowned heads and grand bourgeois. James Gordon Bennett Junior, an American press magnate, liked it so much that he installed a telephone so he could reserve his table quickly. This was a first for Beaulieu. A century later, the telephone number of the Réserve de Beaulieu, which is still 04 93 01 00 01, bears witness to this vibrant past.
