{"id":90988,"date":"2022-09-23T14:34:04","date_gmt":"2022-09-23T12:34:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/test2023.luxus-plus.com\/?p=90988"},"modified":"2022-09-23T14:54:40","modified_gmt":"2022-09-23T12:54:40","slug":"the-dollar-reaches-new-highs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/luxus-plus.com\/en\/the-dollar-reaches-new-highs\/","title":{"rendered":"The dollar reaches new highs <img class=paid src=\/paid.png>"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>[vc_row njt-role=&#8221;people-in-the-roles&#8221; njt-role-user-roles=&#8221;administrator,editor,author,armember&#8221;][vc_column][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"p1\">On Thursday, the dollar, driven by the U.S. Federal Reserve (Fed) rate hike, reached new highs against other major currencies.<\/h4>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Yesterday, at around 15:00 GMT (17:00 in Paris), the greenback was back on the rise <strong>against the euro<\/strong>.\u00a0 <strong>It gained 0.24%<\/strong> to 0.9814 <strong>dollar<\/strong>, after climbing to 0.9809 dollar: a peak since 2002.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>For its part, the Fed raised rates by 0.75 percentage points, <strong>the third consecutive increase of this magnitude<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Fed Chairman <strong>Jerome Powell<\/strong> said he was determined to keep up the rapid pace of rate hikes to fight inflation.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>What about other currencies?<\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In Japan, the central bank maintained its monetary policy. But the Japanese government said it intervened in the foreign exchange market to support the yen.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Japanese currency climbed 1.33% to 142.14 yen to the dollar yesterday, after dropping below the symbolic 145 yen mark for the first time since 1998.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Switzerland aligned itself with the Fed, raising its rate by 0.75 points. As a result, the Swiss franc fell 1.59% to 0.9821 Swiss francs to the dollar.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Bank of England raised its rate by 0.5 points.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>Fed<\/strong> is willing to tolerate a recession as the price of getting inflation under control.
