A solo exhibition, entitled “Capturing Movement in Space<\/strong><\/em>” and curated by Mar\u00eda In\u00e9s Rodr\u00edguez<\/strong>, will be dedicated to her work at the Saint-Anne church in Arles.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Kering decided to launch “Women in Motion<\/strong><\/em>” in 2015, during the Cannes Film Festival<\/strong>, of which it is a partner. The idea is to highlight women in cinema, in front of and behind the camera. The program has since expanded to photography, music, choreography, art or even design. Because the group has realized that, while creation is one of the most powerful vectors of change, inequalities in these fields are still glaring.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n This year, Kering, through Women In Motion, is renewing its partnership with Les Rencontres d’Arles, the unmissable summer photography event, in order to continue and expand its support for women photographers. Rich in projects and events, the 2022 edition presents, for the first time, a selection of more than 50% women.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n In the last three editions, the Women in Motion award was given to Susan Meiselas<\/strong> in 2019, Sabine Weiss<\/strong> in 2020 and Liz Johnson Artur<\/strong> in 2021. It was also in 2019 that the Women In Motion Lab was created, a program that concretely accompanies any project to highlight women in photography. This year, Women in Motion is supporting the exhibition of Susan Meiselas, the first winner of the prize in 2019. The works exhibited at the Rencontres d’Arles are presented as part of a collaboration with the composer Marta Gentilucci<\/strong> at the Saint-Blaise church.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n For the second edition of LAB, Kering and the Rencontres wished to support the work of research and valorization of Bettina Grossman<\/strong>‘s archives carried out by the artist Yto Barrada<\/strong>. The latter began in 2017 an important research work on Bettina’s collections. The result is a monograph containing an exceptional collection of photographic, cinematographic and graphic works by the artist.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n In addition, Kering is also renewing its support for the Prix de la Photo Madame Figaro Arles<\/strong>, which it has sponsored through the Women In Motion program since the prize was created in 2016. The Prix de la Photo Madame Figaro Arles 2022 will be awarded during the final evening at the Th\u00e9\u00e2tre Antique d’Arles on July 8 to a young woman whose creative daring has won over an illustrious jury. Like her predecessors, the winner will also produce a photographic series for the magazine Madame Figaro<\/strong>.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n This year’s Women in Motion Award honors photographer Babette Mangolte<\/strong>. Settled in New York in the 1970s, the filmmaker and experimental photographer has documented the city’s choreographic and performance scene.<\/strong> She developed a photographic and cinematographic language based on the subjectivity of the camera, the central role of the spectator in the device, and the relationship of the human body to space.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n In the 1980s, she pursued this research in an active and rigorous manner, and actively participated in the definition and construction of a performance archive.
