Far from being a coincidence, Testa’s appointment to this position makes sense when you look at his previous experiences. He then joined the Kering<\/strong> group in 2016 by becoming the president of Gucci<\/strong> Grande China. Evolving in this position, in 2019 he became president of EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) as well as vice president of global retail for Gucci.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n “As CEO of Alexander McQueen, Gianfilippo Testa will be tasked with accelerating the development of the British luxury house in order to realise its full potential,<\/em>” the statement said.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Gianfilippo Testa will take up his position at Alexander McQueen in May 2022<\/strong>.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Gintzburger was Testa’s predecessor before deciding to leave Kering to join rival group Capri Holdings<\/strong>, which owns Versace<\/strong>. The press release explains that Gintzburger “has decided to leave Kering to take up a new professional challenge outside the group”.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n He succeeds Cedric Wilmotte, who has held the position on an interim basis since 17 January, having had to replace Jonathan Akeroyd<\/strong> at short notice.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Gintzburger is a true veteran of the luxury world. With a career spanning nearly 25 years<\/strong> in the industry, he began in 1998 at Louis Vuitton<\/strong> where he was in charge of marketing in Asia-Pacific in Hong Kong. He then moved on to Sephora, Lanvin, Saint Laurent<\/strong> and now, Alexander McQueen<\/strong>.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n As an international house, Gintzburger will have to ensure the continuity of the commercial momentum that Versace has started in recent years.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Capri Holdings (Versace’s parent group) CEO John D. Idol<\/strong> was optimistic about the appointment: \u201cHe has a proven track record of building global luxury fashion houses. We believe Emmanuel’s vision for Versace will help us achieve our ambitions for the future.
