The American luxury goods resale platform The RealReal<\/a> has announced more than satisfactory results for the end of 2021, despite a complicated context linked to the global Covid-19 pandemic.<\/h4>\n

Despite a still unstable environment given a Covid-19 epidemic rebound worldwide, The RealReal<\/strong> reported very positive results for the end of 2021.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Indeed, the gross merchandise value (GMV)<\/strong> for the month of December 2021<\/strong> grew by 40%<\/strong> and 49%,<\/strong> compared to the same periods in 2020<\/strong> and 2019<\/strong>. As another example, the gross value of goods (GMV) for November 2021<\/strong> increased by 51%<\/strong> and 46%<\/strong> compared to the same periods in 2020<\/strong> and 2019<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The average order value (AOV)<\/strong> has also increased for the months of October, November and December 2021. In December 2021<\/strong>, the average order value was close to $518<\/strong>, an increase of 10%<\/strong> and 4%<\/strong> compared to the same periods in 2020<\/strong> and 2019<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

These economic results are driven in particular by ready-to-wear, shoes and watches<\/strong>. These categories experienced the strongest growth in December 2021.<\/p>\n

The RealReal plans to revert to quarterly and annual earnings releases for 2022 and will no longer provide monthly business updates going forward.<\/p>\n

Founded in 2011<\/strong> by Julie Wainwright<\/strong>, The RealReal is a San Francisco<\/strong>-based online used clothing and accessory sales depot, and has been publicly traded since 2019<\/strong>. The platform provides consumers with a safe and reliable experience to buy and sell their luxury goods, while valuing the circular economy and extending the life cycle of a luxury product. The RealReal is one of the leaders in the second-hand market dedicated to luxury products, alongside competitors such as Vestiaire Collective, Collector Square<\/strong> or Fashionphile<\/strong> and others.<\/p>\n
