The Buddhist monks blessed the stone before it was unveiled to the public.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Sri Lankan experts said the gem was one of the rarest in the world, weighing <strong>310 kilograms, 1.6 million carats<\/strong> and worth more than 100 million euros. However, international organisations have yet to certify it.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The gemstone was found in a quarry near the town of <strong>Rattnapura<\/strong>, <strong>&#8216;the city of gems&#8217;.<\/strong> It was also in this town that the largest deposit of <strong>star sapphire<\/strong> was found in a garden.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The geological conditions in Sri Lanka are conducive to the development of gemstones thanks to its soil, especially for sapphire.
