Trends and opportunities are the mission of the TFWA<\/strong>. The brand association aims to build awareness and provide a business platform for the global duty free<\/strong> and travel retail<\/strong> industry to thrive. The TFWA helps forge strong relationships between suppliers and operators, and plays a vital role in representing the interests of its members and the industry as a whole.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Each year, the TFWA Management Committee elects a new Chairman. Succeeding Jaya Singh<\/strong> who did not wish to run for re-election, the honor this year goes to Erik Juul-Mortensen<\/strong>.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n “It has been a privilege to serve as TFWA President for the past year<\/em>,” comments Jaya Singh<\/strong>, now former TFWA President.\u00a0 “It has not been an easy journey by any means, given the difficult environment and market challenges our industry continues to face. But thanks to a tremendous amount of teamwork, we were able to deliver a successful TFWA World Expo & Conference and create a platform to build on in 2022. I know that my successor, Erik Juul-Mortensen, will work hard to move the Association forward and he will have my full support in these efforts. I extend my sincerest congratulations to him on his election<\/em>.”<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Erik Juul-Mortensen<\/strong>, the new president for the coming year, knows the house well. A founding member of TFWA and a member of its management committee since the association’s inception, he served as vice president from 1986 to 1997, before being elected president in September 1999. In addition to his responsibilities at TFWA, he is also treasurer of the Duty Free World Council<\/strong>, as well as a member of the supervisory and management boards of the European Retail Confederation. He reacts:<\/p>\n <\/p>\n “First of all, I would like to pay tribute to my predecessor, Jaya Singh, who, together with the Board of Directors and the Management Committee, made courageous decisions during a difficult period for the Association and the wider industry. Their collective work has given TFWA a foundation on which to build next year, and my task is to help ensure that we navigate successfully through what will be a challenging year. I am grateful to the Management Committee for the confidence they have placed in me, and I can assure them and our partners around the world that I will work tirelessly on behalf of the Association to ensure that our strategies and plans take full account of the changes our market has experienced over the past two years. At the conclusion of the TFWA’s December annual meeting, Erik Juul-Mortensen was elected as the new TFWA President by the association’s Management Committee for the next twelve months.<\/h4>\n
