The reference site Money.co<\/strong> has determined a ranking of the most luxurious cities among 140 cities in the world. The criteria takes into account the number of five-star hotels, Michelin-starred restaurants and designer boutiques (from the top 10 luxury brands – Cartier, Rolex, Tiffany & Co, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Prada, Burberry, Valentino, Versace and Herm\u00e8s) in each city.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n The most luxurious lifestyle city for both residents and visitors remains Paris with a total of 427 Michelin-starred restaurants, 108 top 10 luxury designer shops and 95 five-star hotels.<\/strong> The City of Light is the ideal destination for a lavish getaway, with 24 Cartier boutiques (more than any other city) and more Michelin-starred restaurants than any other city in the world.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Only two other European destinations make the top 20: London<\/strong>, ranked second, with more five-star accommodation than Paris (156) with references such as the Ritz, the Savoy and Shangri-La in the Shard. In contrast to Paris and London, which dominate the ranking, Madrid concludes it by finishing twentieth among the most luxurious cities in the world.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Heading internationally, third place goes to Tokyo<\/strong>, Japan, home to 298 award-winning restaurants, including Sukiyabashi Jiro Honten, run by the oldest living chef to receive three Michelin stars, Jir\u014d Ono. New York<\/strong> follows closely behind the Land of the Rising Sun, coming in fourth place.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Asian cities then feature prominently in the ranking : Seoul<\/strong> in South Korea is fifth, Hong Kong and Shanghai<\/strong> in China are sixth and seventh and Singapore, renowned for its luxury architecture and design, is eighth. Bangkok and Pekin<\/strong> complete the top 10.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n The Money.co.uk research team also ranked cities by luxury services offered per square kilometre (km\u00b2). This approach found that Paris<\/strong> once again tops the list, despite its size (105.4km2). In second place is Phuket<\/strong>, which has 48 Michelin-starred restaurants in its 12 square kilometres, followed by Brussels<\/strong> in third place, which has 42 luxury establishments in its 32.6 square kilometres.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n
