Already the owner of an estate in Napa Valley, the House on Rue Cambon is expanding its portfolio in the iconic Californian region with the acquisition of Rudd Estate. Also at the helm of several grand cru estates in Bordeaux, the Domaine de l\u2019Ile in Porquerolles, the Bordeaux wine merchant Ulysse Cazabonne, and the European network of wine merchants Lavinia, Chanel covers the entire value chain, from vineyards to wine trading and distribution.<\/h4>\n

Chanel<\/b> is banking not only on the alluring scent of its No. 5, but also on that of wines from the finest wine-growing regions\u2026<\/p>\n

The luxury group has just announced that it has expanded its operations in the sector through the acquisition of the prestigious Rudd Estate<\/b>, located in Oakville, in California\u2019s Napa Valley<\/b>, renowned for its quality wines.<\/p>\n

For an amount estimated by some sources at around $39 million,<\/b> Chanel acquired the brand, the inventory, and the estate, which covers a total area of 65 acres (approximately 26 hectares), including 47 acres (approximately 19 hectares) planted with vines, producing about 6,000 cases of wine annually.<\/p>\n

French Pioneer of California Wine<\/h2>\n

In 2015, Chanel had already purchased, in the same Napa Valley, the St. Sup\u00e9ry Estate Vineyards and Winery in Rutherford<\/b>. And it was through this estate, founded in 1982 by Robert Skalli, one of the first third-generation French winemakers<\/b> to venture into California wine in the 1980s, that the group acquired Rudd Estate.<\/p>\n
