The GPHG Foundation (Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Gen\u00e8ve)<\/b> has just announced the appointment of Wei Koh<\/b> as president of its Jury starting with the 2026 edition.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
To succeed the historian, writer, and journalist Nick Foulkes<\/b>, who chaired the Jury from 2021 to 2025, another \u201ckey figure in the international watchmaking scene\u201d has thus been appointed.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Created in 2001,the GPHG<\/b> has been overseen since 2011 by a foundation recognized as a public utility. For more than twenty-five years, it has pursued \u201cits mission of promoting the art of watchmaking internationally, with the support of public and private partners, notably its main partner FGP Swiss & Alps<\/b>, and thanks to the collaborative participation of industry stakeholders.\u201d<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Wei Koh, a publisher, entrepreneur, journalist, and filmmaker,<\/b> is recognized, at the age of 56, as one of the most influential voices in the watchmaking media<\/b>.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The son of a Singaporean diplomat, born in the United States where he grew up and studied, he launched Revolution<\/i><\/b> in 2005,a publication dedicated to mechanical watches<\/b> and modern watchmaking culture. It has since become a global brand with regional editions, a digital platform, and collaborations with major watch manufacturers.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Last year, Wei Koh also created Man of the Hour<\/i>, the first episodic television series dedicated to the watch industry<\/b>, which he hosts and executive produces.<\/p>\n

In 2008, Wei Koh launched a second magazine, The Rake, dedicated to men\u2019s lifestyle<\/b>, which has become \u201cthe definitive guide to classic men\u2019s style,\u201d celebrating elegance and the concept of the modern gentleman, blending craftsmanship, tailoring, and heritage.<\/p>\n

Before founding his own publications, Wei Koh worked as an editor and creative consultant in the lifestyle, luxury, and fashion sectors. This experience honed his writing skills and deepened his extensive knowledge of watchmaking and men\u2019s fashion.<\/p>\n

In the press release announcing Wei Koh\u2019s appointment,Raymond Loretan, President of the GPHG Foundation<\/b>, hails \u201cone of the most respected voices in contemporary watchmaking<\/b>,\u201d whose \u201cintimate knowledge of the watchmaking world, independent perspective, and infectious passion\u201d make him \u201can ideal president for the GPHG Jury.\u201d<\/p>\n

Nick Foulkes<\/b> said he was \u201cabsolutely delighted that this important and prestigious position has been entrusted to the inimitable Wei Koh,\u201d and is \u201cdelighted to see him bring his unique vision, boundless energy, and boundless enthusiasm to this role,\u201d adding that he \u201chopes he will enjoy it as much as\u201d he himself has.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn his view, the GPHG celebrates the most remarkable aspects of our world<\/b>.\u201d While he describes his appointment as President of the GPHG Jury as \u201cdeeply moving,\u201d he explains that to say \u201cit is one of the greatest honors of my life would still fall far short of the truth.\u201d The new president also expressed his \u201cimmense gratitude\u201d and his \u201cmost sincere respect\u201d to his \u201cpredecessor, the exceptional Nick Foulkes\u201d and thanked Raymond Loretan, President of the GPHG Foundation, Carine Maillard, Director of the GPHG<\/b>, as well as the GPHG Council.<\/p>\n

Regarding the GPHG, Wei Koh<\/b> also explained that he \u201charbors certain ambitions for the evolution of the Jury\u201d and hopes to \u201cincrease the international visibility<\/b> of this essential initiative.\u201d<\/p>\n

He looked forward to reuniting in November with \u201cthe entire watchmaking community,\u201d which he \u201clikes to think of as one big family.\u201d<\/p>\n

In fact, the 2026 GPHG awards ceremony will take place on Saturday, November 7<\/b> at the B\u00e2timent des Forces Motrices in Geneva<\/b>.<\/p>\n

The composition of the 2026 GPHG Jury will be officially revealed in mid-September.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Meeting behind closed doors a few days before the awards ceremony, its members will physically evaluate each of the 90 timepieces shortlisted<\/b> by the GPHG Academy. Voting will then take place by secret ballot under notarial supervision.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
At the same time,the members of the Academy, composed of approximately a thousand experts<\/b>, will vote digitally. Their votes will account for one-third of the final result, \u201cthus ensuring a balanced and representative list of winners.\u201d<\/p>\n
