Founded in 1898 by Swiss hotelier C\u00e9sar Ritz in partnership with chef Auguste Escoffier<\/b>, on the famous Place Vend\u00f4me (at number fifteen), the establishment quickly established itself as one of the most \u201cbeautiful, grand, and luxurious\u201d hotels in the world. And it still is: rated 5 stars<\/b> and undergoing extensive renovations, the most recent of which took place about ten years ago, it has nevertheless chosen not to seek the distinction of Palace<\/b>, a French recognition established in 2010.<\/p>\n

After a period of decline, The Ritz Paris was sold in 1979 by Charles Ritz’s widow, Monique, to Mohamed Al-Fayed<\/b>, who then completely refurbished it for $250 million. After the death of the famous Egyptian businessman in 2023, the hotel was sold to his heirs and is now operated by the English company The Ritz Limited.<\/p>\n

From August 2012 to June 2016, the hotel underwent another major renovation, at a cost of \u20ac140 million<\/b>, designed by architect Thierry Despont and carried out by Didier Beautemps and Atelier COS<\/b>, a Parisian heritage architecture firm.<\/p>\n

To further enhance its prestige, the number of rooms was reduced from 159 to 142, all of which are different, divided into 71 rooms and 71 suites (including 16 Prestige suites named after loyal guests such as Coco Chanel, Maria Callas, and Chaplin) or offering panoramic views of Paris (Vend\u00f4me, Grand Jardin, Op\u00e9ra, etc.).<\/p>\n

Employing around 600 people today, including around 100 in the kitchen<\/b>, Le Ritz Paris also has a gourmet restaurant, L’Espadon, a French-style brasserie, the Bar Vend\u00f4me<\/b>, with evening entertainment featuring a grand piano, and a tea room, the Salon Proust<\/b>, as well as two bars: Le Ritz Bar<\/b>, where you can enjoy cocktails created by head bartender Romain de Courcy, and Le Bar Hemingway<\/b>.<\/p>\n

A gym, beauty salon, and private swimming pool, claimed to be the largest in Paris, complete the rich offering of Le Ritz Paris.
