On Tuesday, March 18, Breitling announced that it would be buying Gallet, a watchmaking company founded in 1826. Renowned for its precision timekeeping, it is set to become the new entry-level brand of the Swiss luxury watchmaker.<\/h4>\n

After buying Universal Gen\u00e8ve in 2023<\/b>, Breitling, which celebrated its 140th anniversary last year, has made its second acquisition of a renowned watch brand in just two years<\/b>.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Gallet<\/b>, who is 58 years his senior, has the advantage of sharing adventure and aviation with Breitling<\/b>. Having earned its stripes in international recognition, particularly in the United States<\/b>, the brand lost some of its shine with the quartz crisis<\/b> during the 1970s and 1980s.<\/p>\n

Incursion into accessible luxury<\/h2>\n

With Gallet, Breitling is strengthening its presence in precision watchmaking with a heritage<\/b> brand. The new acquisition of the Saint Imier manufacturer has made a name for itself with its precision timekeeping<\/b> for frequent travelers, explorers and other adventurers<\/b>.<\/p>\n

For Breitling, which promotes heritage, excellence and the spirit of exploration, it is also a question of adding an entry-level brand to its portfolio<\/b> and thus reaching a new, more aspirational clientele.<\/p>\n
